Oct. 5th, 2006 03:07 pmMs. Hollie and me at the Maple Leaf Bar New Orleans

The Maple Leaf was an early re-opener in the land between the Quarter and the Jefferson Parish line, at this time still running on a small generator as power was not yet restored to this part of town. There was still a "tap water must be boiled" order in effect then.
We look something of a mess, but probably less so than most New Orleanians at the time.

Date: 2006-10-06 02:41 am (UTC)I liked you friend's story. We'll be able to gross each other out with fridge stories for years! I got lucky- the power came on after about two weeks. Of course, Still Life With Frozen Vermin wasn't too pretty either, it sure made it a heck of alot easier to deal with. At least most people don't have dead body stories- I've got those. Although sticking around turned out to be not the smartest thing to do, I can't imagine what it was like for the evacuees- the suspense must have been grueling, and then the shock of it all...wow.

Yay Maple Leaf!
