Date: 2005-09-07 01:47 am (UTC)When I was looking at neighborhoods when moving from my former home on Napoleon in '97, I was surprised to find that property prices in Lakeview, my third choice, were much higher than my first choice, back in Old Carrollton (where I'd lived in my late teens). Lakeview is under water, last I heard.
Just to correct the mistaken generalization I've seen that in New Orleans there is a direct correlation between economic status and elevation.
Mayor Nagan orders civilians on Eastbank of NOLA to be evacuated by force for 30 days (!)
