both of the above quotes by 5 star General Dwight D. Eisenhower, 34th president of the USA, an expert military man well aware of and unusually honest about the nature of war.

This statement just goes to show that conservatives share many of the same fundamental premises as does liberal altruism

When you realize that he is pointing out the sacrifice caused by the resources and talent which the goverment removes from the free market by coersion, I don't think libertarians should have much problem with Eisenhower's statement either.
