infrogmationI'm finally getting around to our next installment: Daytime Porch Band Parties on Fat Saturday.
On the Saturday before Mardi Gras I went to a couple of parties with good bands on the front porch.
The first was a fine jazz party I've been going to on and off for years down in the lower French Quarter (some years going to other events).

Then back uptown to my neighborhood-- going cross town during the height of Carnival is part of the adventure. Know where the parades are and know your alternative routes.
Deacon John's band was playing for a block party a short walk from my home.

Deacon John had an incredibly tight jump band, going through all the 1950s New Orleans classics and the Mardi Gras season standards one after the other.
