As [livejournal.com profile] mshollie has noted, I've been having problems with the monitor on my home computer for over a week now. It flatlined for her; but I'd been able to keep using it with a combination of turning on and off and giving it the occasional good hard wack, but it was getting more tempermental with a tendancy to go jiggly or just turn off.

Well, I got a new one. Newish one.

Price: the effort of walking home half a block with it.

The t-shirt shop down the block had is vacating their location, and had a big pile of stuff for the trash out front. Some monitors were in the stacks, most looking pretty old and worn, but one looking clean and pretty new. Well, let's give that one a try.

Yup. I'm using it now.

Today, I have slack.

My neighborhood seems pretty good about getting me replacements when something of mine kicks the bucket. Eg: Last May Thanks, neighborhood!

What?!!?

Absurditee is closing?!!? Or are they just moving somewhere else? Rats. We were thinking of doing business with them for CCNO this year, but if they're folding up, we'll have to go with someone more expensive.

BTW, I may be scoring a new (to me)laptop soon. [livejournal.com profile] tal_greywolf told me that Boeing is getting rid of a bunch of older Dell systems. So I may have a new system for state meeting after all.

Absurditee is moving to Oak Street (as is the crystal shop). I dunno why Absurditee got rid of some still functioning equiptment for their move.
