My Twitter account was suspended? Oh no, now I'll have to go elsewhere to make fun of Elon Musk!

As some of you might have heard, there's been a "purge" going on at Twitter. It included, but was not limited to, a number of prominent journalists.

I don't know what if any formal rule or policy I broke there - but I'd been gradually phasing out my account there since Elno took over, accelerating when he went full Q-Bird and Nazis started flooding in, so for about the last 2 weeks all I'd been posting were sharing stories about what an ever deepening disaster Twitter had become, urging those still there to find somewhere else and get going, and accounts of Elno being Elno. I didn't post that jet tracker thing Elno was using as an excuse for blocks, but did have my Mastodon handle and link in my header bio, which might be enough to be de-twitted now.

Those leaving twitter or who want a record of their older stuff there for any reason can get a zip archive from the site of their account. I did that about a month ago. I just found out today (too late for me) that you can also have your tweets saved by the Internet Archive: https://help.archive.org/help/how-to-archive-your-tweets-with-the-wayback-machine/

I do not like that site of birds
I do not like its awful words

I do not like what it became
I do not like its cult of shame

I do not like intrusive ads
I do not like the vapid fads

I do not like the clout it’s given
I do not like its algorithm

But I shall miss that weird bird town
I do not like it burning down

That resonated more a month ago.

Now about all I'll miss is one Twitterer who only posted about Chichen Itza, another who took cool drone photos of New Orleans, and a third who'd been following me since Usenet in the early 1990s - all for whatever reasons of their own were only on Twitter. Maybe we'll find each other elsewhere eventually.

Otherwise, if Elno burns it to the ground, *meh*.
