4th of July
Jul. 5th, 2010 06:41 pmWe had delightful 4th of July in City Park and Algiers Point, New Orleans.
It rained early in the day, but cleared up after noon.
mshollie and I visited our friend Beth at her apartment near Bayou St. John and City Park.

Beth and Hollie point out the ducks on the Bayou.

The aforementioned ducks.
Beth took us on a long walk around City Park.

The parts of the Park we were in were looking great, with much of the post-Katrina renovations and reworkings completed, maybe the biggest projects in the park since the WPA era.

Beth brought some bread for us to feed the birds.

There were ducks, swans, gulls, egrets, and even a black swan.

Re-enacting history at the Dueling Oaks.
In the evening we headed across the River to Algiers Point, where a friend was having folks over for the fireworks display. After tasty bbq and munchies, we walked to the levee to watch 2 barges in the Mississippi firing off a great fireworks display.

A great show!
