Hurricane Lili

As predicted, the hurricane force part of the storm went to the west of New Orleans. My neighborhood is fine; the power even stayed on except for a couple of short flickers and once for about 5 minutes.
I've had an old friend, Ms B. the artist, staying at my place; she's a former New Orleanian now living in Germany who decided to take the long way back from a museum exhibition in Japan in order to visit her old stomping grounds here.
Sitting out a hurricane with an artist can result in conversations like this:
TV Newscaster: As you can see from this satelite image, this is a classic hurricane.
Bev: Have we ever been hit by a Neo-Classic hurricane? Or maybe a Manerist hurricane?
Froggy: You can tell it's a Baroque hurricane if there are lots of chubby babies flying around.
B: What about a Surrealist hurricane?
F: Instead of water, it rains bicycle parts.
B: And when it hits moble-homes, it turns them into fish.

Not-so-darling Lili
We lost power here in my 'hood for a couple of hours this morning, but am OK now. I decided to sleep through most of it (the power outage and the storm). My dad had his hurricane lamp burning.
My sister on the Northshore is OK, though she couldn't get to work in Baton Rouge. *shrug*
I think we dodged yet another bullet.
