Don't Tread On BP
May. 21st, 2010 12:41 pmAP: Rand Paul: Obama's criticism of BP 'un-American'
Hey Rand Paul:
1)Criticism of BP can't be "Un-American", it's BRITISH Petroleum, from that foreign Kingdom the original "Tea Party" was revolting against. Duh!
2)If you were a REAL Free Market Libertarian rather than just another right wing shill, you'd be complaining about the government interference in the market place of the corporation laws and limitations on liability. In a free market, personal profit and personal responsibility are inseparable. BP's CEOs and board thus have full personal liability for all the deaths, destruction, and damages their actions cause. Sheesh, I gotta 'splain basic Libertarianism to YOU?
3)FY,YFF.

No, see, this is "neo-libertarianism." Also known as "heads-I-win-tails-you-lose neoconservatism."

Don't Tread on BP
Date: 2010-05-21 10:28 pm (UTC)Good man. His dad, I could respect the philosophical consistency, even when I disagreed with him. Randy, no.
"but how much money did he take from BP?"
I don't know off hand. Feel free to research that; major campaign contributions should be in the public record.
"Feel free to express it in multiples/fractions of the amount Obama received."
BZZT! No "tu quoque", please. If something is wrong, it's wrong no matter who does it.
Whether or not he has any direct connections to BP, I think how Rand Paul assesses the relative values of people v/s corporations is illustrated in his "Maybe sometimes accidents happen" statements regarding the Webster County Coal Mine fatalities. Perhaps his attention should be brought to Common Law's long tradition of gradations between absolute innocence and first degree murder, such as "negligence" and "criminal negligence".

So despite what you say, it is different when Democrats do it. You don't feel the need to comment on taking money (D), but you do feel the need to comment on mere words (R).
