While out doing errands yesterday, I saw a solar powered car on Nashville Avenue, Uptown New Orleans.

It's "XOF1". The driver/chief builder Marcelo da Luz gave a little talk about it in front of one of the magnet schools. He drove it up to the Arctic Circle and is on his way down to Key West Florida.

The kids knew it was something cool, and had some good questions.

Da Luz said the car wasn't a chick magnet; it was a chick repellant. Just seats one!

Will something useful develop out of this? Too soon to tell. But I suspect I felt something like the people seeing early horseless carriages in the 1890s felt-- may not be practical yet, but impressive to see.
