Carnival Time

Since my last update, I've played a "jazz funeral" parade for a dog... (If one of your thoughts when your beloved dog dies is to get a brass band to parade around a circuit of your dog's favorite neighborhood places while inviting friends to dance in the streets in your dog's honor, you might be a New Orleanian. I think this city can get more life out of a dead dog than some places manage from a year of holidays.) There have already been few early Carnival celebrations, but this evening is the Krewe du Vieux parade, the first sizable parade in the city's Carnival calendar and always a highlight.

Krewe du Vieux was always one of the best "organized parades", imho! I hope you take some pictures, if you go. :D

I won't be able to be at Krewe du Vieux (but you already knew that), so make sure to take lots of pictures. I want to see them when I get back. :)

We were there, but, alas, as always, we didn't see you in the parade. We might have gotten a picture, but it was very crowded at Molly's.

The "funeral procession with music" as the old timers called it (the term "jazz funeral" at first was a label put on it by outsiders; the focus isn't on jazz per se, that just happens to have been the local mode of musical interpretation) can be very cathartic.

If Bonnie would love a parade, hey, why not go for it while she's still alive.
