Things which may have had influenced parts of the dream:
I've played in bands for a number of conventions, jazz or novelty bands, however not generally anything like academic conferences. The exception, I guess, was when the World Jules Verne Society was in New Orleans 10 years ago and hired the New Orleans Steamcog Orchestra.
The appearance of a hooker was inspired by a video I saw on facebook - public web camera on Bourbon Street caught the driver of a street sweeper truck soliciting a sidewalk hooker in booty-shorts who then got into the street sweeper truck with him and drove away. I haven't found it on YouTube, but if you're on facebook you can see it at https://www.facebook.com/spitfireyasser/videos/701606475995663 Same hooker who made a guest appearance in my dream, I think.
Tokyo may have been inspired by Ms Hollie being gifted some small Japanese flavored Kit Kats - quite tasty - the label of one was just in Japanese.
Most otherwise seems just going through general minor anxieties.
