The patch of tar balls, three to four miles long and about three miles wide, was detected today." "A flyover conducted today also discovered a 10-mile long, quarter-mile wide streamer of emulsified oil about three miles off the northern tip of the Chandeleur Islands" "Also today, the Louisiana National Guard collected 28 bags, about 700 pounds, of oily debris on the recently-constructed berm at the Chandeleur Island chain".
