Newsweek reviews BP's disaster plan documents for the Gulf. Why Wasn’t There A Better Plan?

“My jaw dropped when I read it,” says longtime critic of the oil industry.

More reasons to disdain for BP for anyone who doesn't have enough already.

• The plan mentions the need to protect walruses, sea lions, sea otters, and seals —all animals that do not actually exist in the gulf. This suggests that at least parts of the gulf plan could have been cut-and-pasted from response plans for other regions, like Alaska.

• A hyperlink provided for a response contractor points to a Japanese shopping Web site.

And, of course, the unsurprising revelation that they actually had no plan at all for the eventuality of a deep sea blowout.

So, BP: which tastes better, Louisiana Walrus, or Alaskan Alligator?
