[livejournal.com profile] mshollie is up in Monroe, Louisiana doing her webbery and pagent stuff. I stayed here in NOLA. (I've been to Monroe.)

We're both looking forward to our next trip: Up to New England. It's been too long since I took a trip that didn't involve evacuations, operations, or sick, dieing or dead relatives. Hollie will be taking care of some business in Fall River, MA, but we'll have time on either side of it to enjoy some time in Providence and Greater Boston.

I think the language barrier and culture shock will be less severe than my time in Hungary.

In Providence we plan to see the RISD Museum and meet [livejournal.com profile] jwgh. I might try some "johnnycakes" and "coffeemilk", but I think I'll pass on the "stuffies".

Boston has topped my personal list as the US city I've most wanted to visit that I never have. I got us a room in Cambridge near the Harvard Square "T" (subway) stop.

[livejournal.com profile] plorkwort has offered to show us MIT, and we hope to meet up with fellow Kibologist Tom Kraemer as well. We'll only have time for a few days sample of Boston & Cambridge. Boston's Museum of Fine Arts sounds like somewhere I'd enjoy spending several days at alone, and then there's the Gardner Museum, the Peabody Museum... Circumstances permitting, maybe we'll be able to come back again next year.

Meanwhile, Driftglass reminds us that Sunday is "National Republican Treasonal Affective Disorder” Day.
