I wound up not going to any of the "big" parades-- none listed in the Arthur Hardy's Mardi Gras Guide Parades Calendar (the so called "Complete Companion To the Parade Season". Ha!). Two events I participated in are grudgingly mentioned in the fine print (Phunny Phorty Phellows streetcar party & the Krewe du Vieux Carre parade). The rest were various neighborhood parades which tourists generally never hear about, along with private parties.
Played trombone for 4 parades and 3 parties this year (turned down another "will pay you in beer" offer-- more due to an already full schedual than an unwillingness to play for beer if the party is particularly good). The Royal Band for one of my favorite costume parties was renamed for the late Bear Lemoine; it is now The BEAR Band, which the new leader says stands for "Bear's Eternally Annoying Royal Band".
I have not all, but a good sample of my Carnival photos up. I'm letting my LiveJournal friends know first, to preview without competing for bandwidth with the common throng. Check it out at:

Yes, *sigh*, it's on another free site.
I still havn't decided on a pay site. Part of it is because I have a reluctance to make obligations to pay regularly for anything, as opposed to just buying it outright. Part is finding my prefered reqirements cheap.
I'm still taking recomendations as to pay sites for a more permanant (I hope) home for my pages.
Also going up at that site are my 2001 Carnival pages, formerly on the dear departed xoom/nbci. The new Topcities.com is slightly expigated. Xoom/Nbci were clear what they didn't allow (specifying no genitalia), whereas Topcities has a vague "no porn" requirement. Thus I'm leaving out some pix of costumes with obvious boobage, which I don't concider porn myself, but I'll play it more conservative 'til I have a better idea of what Topcities intends by their standards.
