Local stuff:

Times-Picayune front page editorial Sunday

Cheap foreign workers brought into New Orleans by Hallburton being left homeless in the city Actually, the one or two meals a day I see lots of those temp workers lined up to get are provided by the Red Cross, not their employers, but if you're a recent immigrant from rural Oaxaca, that distinction may not be clear to you.

And on the world front:

Scientists in India say they have discovered two fossils fused together in sexual union for 65 million years. Insert witticisms about staying power and time to change positions here.

China: Door foils President Bush's cut-&-run exit strategy. If he wants to leave, I'd be happy to hold the door open for him.

My witticism about the fossil would have been one word: "CRAMP!!!"

Great editorial. I want to punch people in the neck when they say the country shouldn't spend money to rebuild NOLA.

Not only are dinosaurs are myth by "scientists", but they are vile promiscuous sinners.

Actually my reaction is different now. I get bored with it, mainly because it's a moot point and not worth arguing. It IS going to happen and I'd prefer to see their energy applied to how it happens. I'd like to see the lessons taught us were actually learned and then applied to New Orleans. I'm very concerned at the number of people I've talked to that seem to want it exactly as it was and that's just not practical nor wise, in my opinion. Some of those places can't be rebuilt at all, such as the old charming homes that would take a small fortune to restore by today's construction costs.
