May, 1924

I went through some boxes and piles of old photos at my late Grandma's place; no order, all different decades mixed together.

Here's one of my favorite finds-- a group of flapper friends in Minnesota, May, 1924. My grandmother is the 16 year old coquette on the left.

Heh, looks like she's all done up like Amelia Earhart. :)

Judging by the styles, my grandma (http://www.najakito.com/~john/gene/pictures/ethel.jpeg)'s got about ten years on her.

Oh, Froggy... you granny was a bifurcated female?

I... I'm shocked.

By the 1920s, public appearance of Bifurcated Girls (http://www.angelfire.com/la/carlosmay/BiGrls.html) was more accepted than it had been 20 years earlier.

I also posted this on [livejournal.com profile] theflappers, where it was suggested that they'd been horseback-riding.

She really was a cutie, Froggy. We know now where you got your looks!

Well, that's a boring suggestion. I'd much rather be scandalized.
